In a philosophical study of the notion of liberating knowledge as it occurs in a range of Buddhist sources, Burton (Mount Saint Vincent U., Nova Scotia) assesses the common Buddhist claim that the key to liberation is knowledge of the three characteristics of existence: impermanence, not-self, and suffering.
