The eighteen papers presented by Mahdi (Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, U. of Exeter, UK), Wurth (Free U. of Berlin, Germany), and Lackner (honorary research fellow, U. of Exeter) collectively provide an overview of cotemporary social, political, legal, economic, environmental, and development issues facing the southern Arabian country of Yemen since its 1990 unification and on into the near future.
