The History of British Women's Writing, 1500-1610

Rethinking the history of women's writing and literary history itself, this new volume examines the diversity of early women's writing (from verse and songs to household records and recipes), offering a new paradigm for understanding women's shaping roles in the literary, religious, and political movements of the sixteenth century.

CAROLINE BICKS is Associate Professor of English at Boston College, USA. Her publications include Midwiving Subjects in Shakespeare's England (Ashgate, 2003) and articles in Journal for Early Modern Cultural Studies, Modern Philology and SEL, amongst others.

JENNIFER SUMMIT is Professor of English at Stanford University, USA. She is the author of Lost Property: The Woman Writer and English Literary History, 1380-1589 (University of Chicago Press, 2000) and Memory's Library: Medieval Books in Early Modern England (University of Chicago Press, 2008).
