作者簡介

Carol Camp Yeakey, Ph.D. is the Founding Director of the Washington University Center on Urban Research and Policy and the Founding Director of the Interdisciplinary Program in Urban Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. She also holds faculty appointments as Professor of Education; of International & Area Studies; of American Culture Studies; and, of Urban Studies, on the Faculty of Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis. Previous to her appointment at Washington University, she served as Professor on the graduate faculty at the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia. She received her Ph.D. in Organizational Theory and Public Policy from Northwestern University’s School of Education and Social Policy.

Vetta Sanders Thompson, PhD, is currently an Associate Professor at Washington University in St. Louis, George Warren Brown School of Social Work, Institute of Public Health and Urban Studies. Her research has focused on racial identity, psychosocial implications of race and culture for mental health, health communication and promotion, health services utilization, and determinates of health and mental health disparities. Dr. Thompson has over 70 published articles, chapters and reviews; including 47 peer reviewed articles on the development and application of measurement tools to assess ethnic/racial identity, racism, discrimination and stressful life events, socio-cultural determinants and correlates of health and mental health in African Americans, the impact of psychotherapy protocols related to the discussion of race and their impact on therapy ratings and therapeutic outcomes, as well as the psychological impact of perceived experiences of discrimination.

Anjanette Wells, PhD, MSW is an Assistant Professor at Washington University in St. Louis’ George Warren Brown School of Social Work, a scholar with the University’s Institute for Public Health, and an affiliated faculty with Urban Studies. Her research centers on cancer disparities and community engagement, with a common thread of interest in health behaviors and adherence, prevention and outreach interventions, and recruitment and retention to research and practice among low-income and minorities. The majority of her studies, funded by the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society, involve use of qualitative and mixed methods. Her public health research intersects with her teaching in the areas of health behavior theory, clinical practice in healthcare settings, diversity, and multicultural group practice. She has published her research in Patient Education & Counseling, Psychiatric Services, General Hospital Psychiatry, Cancer, and Psychosocial Oncology.
