Using data from a wide range of printed resources complemented by naturalistic corpora and work with native speaker consultants, David constructs a grammar of the Iranian language spoken in Pakistan and Afghanistan that is as theory-free as she can manage, to be useful not only to descriptive linguists but also to scholars in number of fields and to language learners. She covers the four standard dialects and the Middle dialects--including Waziri--of modern Pashto. Her greatest emphasis is on morphology. Examples are in the Perso-Arabic script followed by Latin transcriptions. She covers phonology and orthography, Pashto dialects, nouns, adjectives and other noun modifiers, pronouns, verbs, adpositions, other lexical elements, and syntax.
