商品簡介
Drawing upon philosophical interest from Martin Heidegger to Rachel Carson in technology, morality, and ecology, Davison (sustainability studies, Murdoch U., Australia) argues that the challenge posed by sustainability is to circumvent traditions that regard technology as extraneous to late-modern moral ambiguity. Counter to the concept of sustainable development to which the global marketplace and UN diplomats pay lip service, and the confused language of more sincere environmental discourse, the author views technology as a world-building endeavor that must be read ontologically as world-revealing. Later chapters address more personal, pragmatic aspects of having "a world worth caring for." Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
