本套教材為全國電力高職高專“十二五”規劃教材（公共基礎課系列教材）。
本套教材共分為3冊，每冊由學生用書及相配套的學習指導組成，各冊分別有相應的聽力、課文及課后生詞錄音光盤和相應的教學課件，本書為第3冊。本套教材借鑒任務驅動法（Task-driven
method）的思路，依據高職高專院校學生特點，注重聽、說、讀、寫、譯各種能力的培養；選材難度適中，融知識性、趣味性、實用性于一體，同時具有鮮明時代感；力求改變傳統教學模式，即變講授模式為討論互動教學模式，突出學生主體特征，激發學習興趣，調動學習積極性，使學生易獲成就感，從而消除厭學情緒。
作者簡介
郭衛 鄭州電力高等專科學校，副教授。主要研究方向為大學英語聽力、口語與閱讀教學法，大學英語四、六級考試及IEIJTS(雅思)應試策略。曾獲省、市高校大學英語教學比賽一等獎；出版了《最新題型大學英語四級應試指南》、《大學英語自學考試(本科)輔導》等相關論著；發表了《大學英語聽力問題調查與分析》、《我國大學生英語口語障礙分析與解決途徑》等論文。劉俊花 鄭州電力高等專科學校，副教授。主要從事英語教學工作，積極投身教學研究和教學改革，公開發表論文多篇；作為主編、副主編參與公開出版《大學英語應試綜合指南》、《公共實用英語》、《公共實用英語學習指導書》以及《新風尚·高職高專實用英語綜合訓練》等多種教材的編寫；參與教學研究項目多項，其中《高等職業教育英語教學質量提升策略的探索》榮獲省社科聯、經團聯優秀調研成果一等獎，《個性化促進型英語教學模式的研究》獲河南省教育教學成果二等獎。李磊 鄭州電力高等專科學校，撰寫過多篇教研論文，并先后參加過《大學英語應試綜合指南》、《公共實用英語》(第2冊)、《高職高專實用英語綜合教程》(第3冊)等多部書的編寫。余靈 四川電力職業學院，副教授。多年來一直從事高職高專英語教學，近年來主要從事中澳合作項目教育管理及英語教學研究。曾主持精品課程建設，參與課題研究，在國內多種學術期刊上有論文公開發表。
