Morrison, who calls himself "an artist who happens to be an Indian," paints a self-portrait of a life of changing horizons and artistic achievement. Born to a large family in a rural area, Morrison attended art school in Minneapolis and went to the Art Students League in New York City, where he was swept up in Abstract Expressionism. He later taught at the Rhode Island School of Design. In 1970 he returned to Minnesota and began to seek out his Ojibway heritage. Includes color and b&w photos of his art and scenes from his life.
