The papers in this collection were selected from those presented during a conference on policy and practice in environmental management in the Caribbean held in Mona, Jamaica in 2009. The 20 contributors and editor Thomas-Hope address the different ways environmental issues are managed, including national parks and protected areas. Topics also include freshwater management, pollution and waste management, disaster risk reduction, and more. The editor notes that those management activities have primarily been conducted by individual research initiatives and non-governmental organization projects and are not by government policies.
