Advances in Intelligent Vehicles embraces recent advancement of research and advanced development in intelligent vehicle technologies which enhance the safety, reliability, and performance of vehicles and vehicular networks and systems. Intelligent vehicles consist of semi-autonomous or autonomous driving systems that are controlled based on multiple sensors and senor networks in a complex driving environment with high-level interactions between vehicles and infrastructure. The overall system of intelligent vehicles can be viewed as a physical-cyber system which is comprised of vehicles/components and sensing devices (manmade physical systems) and control, communication and computation elements (cyber system). The purpose of this book is to provide researchers and engineers with up to date research results and state-of-the art technologies in the area of intelligent vehicles and transportation systems.
