商品簡介
Da Riva presents and analyzes royal texts by Neo-Babylonian kings Nabopolassar (626-605 BC), his son and successor Amel-Marduk (562-560 BC), and Amel-Marduk's possible murderer Neriglissar (560-566). Most of them are commemorative building inscriptions that refer to the activities of the monarchs regarding the construction of religious and civil works. Apart from the vases, the material supports of the inscriptions are either primary architectural elements such as bricks and paving stones, or elements that can be inserted into architectural structures, such as foundation cylinders. Compared to Assyrian inscriptions, he says, Neo-Babylonian inscriptions contain little historical evidence, but what there is has not been as thoroughly mined as it could be.
