Andras Rona-Tas, Ph.D. (1958), is a member of the Hungarian Academy (1990) and is Professor Emeritus, University of Szeged. He was President of the International Association for Tibetan Studies (1982-1989), and visiting professor at the universities of Bonn and Vienna. He has published more than twenty books in the field of historical linguistics.
