商品簡介
Sanzo presents students, academics, and researchers with an examination of the use of opening lines, or incipits, in the Gospels, Psalms, and other biblical passages inscribed on amulets in Egypt in the late antique period. The author has organized the six chapters that make up the main body of his text in three parts devoted to a typology of scriptural incipits, a collection of scriptural incipits, and a theory of scriptural incipits.
