Ronaldo Martins is the Language Resource Manager of the UNDL Foundation in Switzerland and Professor of Linguistics at the University of Vale do Sapucai, in Brazil. Since completing a PhD in Theoretical Linguistics at the State University of Campinas in 2004, he has been involved in several different projects dealing mainly with computational linguistics and, more specifically, with machine translation. Since 2009, he has been coordinating the technical development of the UNL program, and has been responsible for the creation, the implementation and the maintenance of the UNLweb (www.unlweb.net), which includes a distance-learning environment for NLP (VALERIE) and a linguist-friendly crowdsourcing platform-the UNLarium-where freelancers and partners are able to create dictionary and grammar entries for several different languages.
