商品簡介
Famagusta is an archeological walled city on the island of Cyprus, containing art-filled churches and major buildings from the Frankish, Crusader, and Venetian periods. Experts and visitors agree that it is a unique cultural treasure, but because the political situation in Cyprus is so unstable, it's currently impossible for Famagusta to be designated a World Heritage Site or given large-scale conservation. This book is the result of a convention of experts on the site. They document what has been done to save it, and speak about what exists at the site. The papers begin with a look at the bishop of Famagusta in the mid-13th century, and end with sixteenth-century material. The book's first section looks at history, and the second section at material culture. The book includes black and white illustrations and a center section of quality color plates of artifacts and ruins. Annotation c2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
