From 1928 MG was a make in its own right and in 1929 the company moved to the Thames-side town of Abingdon, which would remain its home until 1980. The early thirties were a golden era for MG, when racing and record breaking endowed the make with its impeccable competition credentials, and in the postwar years output soared as MG emerged as a provider of sports cars for the world, and the overwhelming majority of MGs were sold in the United States. The MGA and its successor, the iconic MGB, were the best selling sport cars of their day, despite the successive corporate traumas which engulfed MG's parent companies. The marque took on a new lease of life with the appearance of the acclaimed MGF sports car and today that same car is the flagship of the new, Chinese-owned MG."--BOOK JACKET.
作者簡介
The author of some thirty-five books on the motoring of yesteryear, Jonathan Wood has made a particular study of the histories of Britain's multifarious car makers. He has received the Guild of Motoring Writers' Montagu Trophy and the Society of Automotive Historians' Cugnot Award.
