Russian radio engineers present results of their own theoretical and experimental research, and information from patent and engineering publications about the nature and use of frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar in short-range industrial applications. Many excellent devices are available commercially, they say, but market pressure does not often allow suppliers time to provide details on using them. The topics include the weighting method for the difference frequency averaging, the maximal likelihood method for estimating range according to the difference frequency signal, analyzing the range measurement error at the interference presence, and parametric methods and algorithms for increasing the measurement accuracy at the interference presence.
