The Master of Science (Environmental Management) program at the National University of Singapore was founded in 2001, and is a multidisciplinary graduate program dedicated to cultivating environmental consciousness in senior and mid-level managers. The idea is to develop a consciousness and skill set for managing issues that affect the environment in a manner that supports sustainability. The orientation is practicality. Students are required to prepare dissertations or research papers, and this volume presents versions of 23 of the best. A sampling of topics: evaluating the profitability of being green, environmental sustainability in wafer fabrication plants, captive breeding as a tool for conservation of endangered species (comparative case study of the lion-tailed macaque), a socio-economic analysis of fishery sustainability in Singapore, and timber shortage and the sustainability of the Malaysian furniture industry.
