Sensing Space ― The Poetics of Geography in Contemporary English-Canadian Writing

Is there an obvious difference between English literature written by Canadians and that written by American (her distinction) and British writers? Ormovere (English, University Nancy 2, France) believes that there is and that it is most evident in the way Canadian authors use geography in their work. Americans, she states, describe landscapes as something to be mastered whereas Canadians seek to become part of it. To prove this she selects works by several authors and examines how geography is treated in each.
