商品簡介
The Middle English poem recounts a common tale of a young mysterious man who arrives at King Arthur's court to prove himself worthy of inclusion; he is called Lybeaus Desconus, the Fair Unknown, because he does not know his name. Texts of the poem are presented from two of the six extant manuscripts, Lambeth Palace MS 306 from about 1460 and Biblioteca Nazionale (Naples) MS XIII from about 1457. Extensive marginal glosses are provided as well as an amalgamated glossary in the end matter and textual notes for both versions. The introduction places the poem in the context of Arthurian literature across Europe during the period. The series is for students of either the language or the literature of Medieval England. Medieval Institute Publications is at Western Michigan University. Annotation c2014 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
