商品簡介
The premise for this unified group of essays is to test the thesis of Peter Temin (economics, MIT) and Barry Eichengreen (economic and political science, U. of California, Berkeley) which posits a relationship between the gold standard and the Great Depression of the 1930s. The essays examine the relationship in several different countries, including Weimar Germany, India, New Zealand, the Soviet Union, France, the UK, and in a comparison of the US and Canada. A concluding essay by Eichengreen and Temin evaluates the essays and offers conclusions. The contributors are economists from most of the countries considered.
