This volume explores how international organizations became involved in the making of global development policy. The book looks at the driving forces and dynamics behind that process, and critically assesses the consequences their policies have had around the world. What did they promise and what were they expected to achieve? How did they conceptualize development and through what means did they promote it? Marc Frey is Professor of Contemporary History/History of International Relations at the Bundeswehr University Munich, Germany.
Sonke Kunkel is an officer in the department of strategy and policy of the German Science Foundation.
