商品簡介
Despite a proliferation of strategies in recent years, little, if any, progress has been made in efforts to improve physician-hospital relations in the US. Fiol and O'Connor (both health administration, U. of Colorado-Denver) offer senior hospital administrators and physician leaders a new perspective on the topic, based on evidence from social science research and on practical experience from diverse sources such as international diplomacy and their own work with healthcare organizations. Following a review of traditional--and largely unsuccessful--approaches to managing physician-hospital conflicts, the authors present a four-phase process for moving from intractable conflicts to develop effective collaboration between hospital administrators and physicians, including steps to take to ensure its sustained success.
