Andrew Mikolajski worked as a music critic, but developed an interest in gardening and has worked on several RHS reference projects that brought him into contact with expert gardeners and nurserymen. He is the author of The Illustrated World Encyclopedia of Apples and Pruning Plant by Plant. He has taught the RHS certificate and garden design at Warwickshire College, as well as leading day courses on aspects of design, garden history, and practical gardening at Lamport Hall, Farncombe Estate, and the English Gardening School at Chelsea Physic Garden.
