商品簡介
Heterodox economist Gurak sought out the fundamental theories and principles that distinguish Islamic economics from Western economics, and found none. He traced the lack of interest and other features to scripture and religious literature, but without any economic theory. This satisfies Muslims, he says, but others should be able to understand Islamic economics in the same terms they understand their own. Therefore, he sets out to develop a set of theories to explain how Islamic economics works. He covers developing Islamic economic theories; whether Western scientific economic theories are a proper source of inspiration for Islamic economics; Islam, science, and the "absolute truth;" an alternative approach to value and price theory based on mental labor and technological change; the Islamic theory of trade; Islam and interest from the perspective of an economist; and interest, surplus, savings, and rent.
