Soils in the Humid Tropics and Monsoon Region of Indonesia

An understanding of the variations in soil is essential to planning crops and preserving native growth. Tan (university of Georgia, Athens) has spent many years researching the soil of Indonesia. He first argues that there are differences in tropical soil, counter to accepted wisdom. He then gives an analysis of the soil types and the best use of each in agriculture. A native of Indonesia, Tan worked in the country before relocating to the United States. The book, with photos and graphs as well as chemical analysis, is intended for professionals but the text is clearly written and accessible to those interested in world agricultural production.
