Gis for Water Resources and Watershed Management

This work concentrates on principles and techniques of GIS (geographic information systems) databases and related technologies of modeling and simulation, remote sensing, and GPS (global positioning systems), and their applications in research and management of water resources and watersheds, in the US and other countries. Contributors are professionals in natural resources, engineering, and agriculture; many are the developers of the applications they describe. Some specific topics explored include evaluation of salmon habitat, physical characterization of watersheds for hydrological simulation, and automated land surface parameterization from digital elevation models. Other subjects include aerial photo interpretations of hazardous waste sites, and remote sensing and GIS for site-specific farming. The book includes color and b&w images and maps.
