商品簡介
Originating in papers presented at a conference in November 2011 in Wroclaw, this volume takes up the subject of Alexander the Great and Egypt. Alexander's expedition to Egypt gave birth to a complex source tradition whose importance for the later Graeco-Macedonian rule of Egypt cannot be overestimated. While his stay in Egypt lasted only months, his conquest of Egypt marked the beginning of Graeco-Macedonian rule and was a brief and self-contained episode in his prolonged campaign against the Achaemenid Empire. This volume, which looks through Egyptian eyes, is concerned as much with source study, evidence-based history, as with ideology, image making and memory. There are 23 essays, a bibliography, footnotes, and illustrations. Annotation c2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
