商品簡介
This guide for librarians explains how to help readers discover genre blends in the library’s collection. An opening chapter introduces genre blends, also known as genre bends, genre crossover, hybrid fiction, mash-up, slipstream, and “the new weird.” Chapters are then devoted to seven major genres: adventure, fantasy, historical fiction, horror, mystery, romance, and science fiction. Each chapter starts with a brief description of the genre and discussion of how and why it gets blended, then presents three annotated examples for each of that genre’s blends with the six other genres. Each chapter also gives tips on how to conduct a reader’s advisory conversation on this type of blend. The final chapter gives advice on looking beyond the fiction stacks for blends. The guide includes a list of useful books and articles for librarians in print and online. Annotation c2014 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
