商品簡介
Working in a border area fairly neglected by church historians and economic historians, Flew examines the mechanisms by which the Church of England was funded during the last half of the long 19th century. She takes the view that a decline in financial commitment can be a measure of changing public attitudes toward religion, and evaluates the financial commitment of the laity to Anglican diocesan home-missionary organizations in London 1856-1914 and judges whether this commitment remained stable. The two main themes that run through the book, she says, are philanthropy and secularization. Annotation c2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
