Stillman (English, U. of Tennessee, Knoxville) gathers 11 essays, most from a symposium on "Spectacle and Public Performance in the Middle Ages and Renaissance" at the Medieval and Renaissance Curriculum and Outreach Program at the U. of Tennessee, held during the spring of 2004. In the essays, English and theater scholars from the US, Canada, and UK examine politics, religion, and other themes in mystery plays, civic pageants, courtly masques, and dramas such as Antichrist, Spenser's Faerie Queene, Elizabeth I's coronation procession, John a Kent and John a Cumber, Measure for Measure, Macbeth, and Chester's Triumph in Honor of Her Prince.
