商品簡介
The Triumph of the Ecunnau-Nuxulgee describes the 1825 tour by Marquis de Lafayette and the proceeding events, up to 1838, which resulted in the dispossession of Creek homelands and the removal of the Creek people from their lands to the land west of the Mississippi River (then called “Indian Territory”). The activities covered in this book resulted in the emigration and diaspora of over 22,000 Creeks, many of whom were making a living as small farmers, cotton planters, cattle ranchers, and similar occupations and were uprooted from the stability of their home lives. This book focuses specifically on the Creeks of Georgia and Alabama during the removal period and, while it is meant for the general reader who is interested in such topic, it is lengthy and thorough, requiring some commitment on the part of its readership. It also contains a full account of the congressional debate on Andrew Jackson's Indian Removal Bill of 1830. Annotation c2016 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
