商品簡介
Saint Augustine and Saint Benedict developed rules whereby Christians could live together in religious communities, but their focus was on the monastic life. It was nearly 200 years later when Saint Chrodegang, Bishop of Metz, drew up rules for canons, also known as secular clergy. To this translation (which includes the Latin texts) of the three surviving versions of Chrodegang's rule, Bertram adds the Longer Rule (also called the Interpolated Rule and material from the Council of Aaschen and the Canonical Institute. The result is a set of primary sources that illuminate the world of men who had one foot in the world and the other in the monastery. Annotation c2005 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
