Food Supply Security 2003

The food supply would have become an increasing topic of concern even if recent events had not arisen to question the integrity of the global food production and delivery systems. Here, contributors describe their research on laws concerning the security of the food supply for both English- and French-speaking sections of the Center for Studies and Research. Both find substantial inequities in the distribution of any food whatsoever, and staggering amounts of malnutrition, hunger and starvation. They also find serious inequities in who gets safe food, with developing nations and marginalized groups in developed nations suffering the most from diseases and conditions related to tainted food. They believe the international community has largely ignored the issue, having not addressed the moral and legal issues of the food supply, and recommend immediate and concerted action.
