Where Did We Come From? ― Autobiography of an Astrobiologist

This is a traditional story-of-my-life autobiography, written by an astronomer. It will be of interest to readers interested in the author, and readers interested in the history of 20th century astronomy. The book documents the author's childhood and education, as well as his adult life. He was a long-time collaborator with famous astronomer Fred Hoyle on panspermia (the theory that life is widely distributed in space, seeded by the presence of spaceborne amino acids) and a founder of astrobiology, the study of life in space. The book will also be interesting to readers seeking an account of Western science by a non-Western scientist, as the author is a British-educated Sri Lankan with a background in Buddhist ideas.
