商品簡介
Hofer casts light on psycholinguistic and cognitive dimensions of trilingual or multilingual learning and development at an early age. She shows that learners in multilingual programs demonstrate superiority in linguistic and meta-linguistic tasks over learners in traditional educational programs, and argues that multilingual instruction does not impede a child's intellectual growth or interfere with the child's development of a first language. In fact, she says, early multilingual learning can lead to a high degree of proficiency in both first and second languages if there is adequate support, and result in heightened levels of meta-linguistic and cross-linguistic awareness.
