Keane, a school librarian, collects 70 research pathfinders targeted to middle school students. The two-page pathfinders are designed to help build independent research and information literacy skills, and lead students to respected, commonly available resources on topics such as the American Revolution, astronomy, and mythology. The pathfinders briefly summarize the scope of the topic and list catalog subject headings, key words and Dewey numbers, Web sites, and print resources. There are also student guidelines on finding and developing a topic, evaluating Internet sources, and citation. Unfortunately, the book was not bound with easy photocopying in mind.
