Washington's personal letters and a very few official documents are collected in the Confederation Series . This fifth of six volumes contains correspondence regarding the Federal Convention in the summer of 1787, the fight for ratification of the Constitution beginning in the fall of that year, and Shay's Rebellion, in addition to letters dealing with Washington's personal concerns such as farm, family, slaves, tenants, and tradesmen.
