This book offers critical perspectives on the pressing issue of global nuclear-weapons abolition ('The Global Zero') from some of the leading scholars and experts in the field.

Renewed calls for nuclear weapons-free world have sparked a wide academic debate on both the attainability of such goal and the steps that should be taken along the road to 'global zero'. Comparably less attention, however, has been paid to theoretically informed considerations of the consequences of nuclear abolition. That includes potential systemic and sub-systemic impacts, strategic implications for global and regional stability, and generally the influence on relations among relevant actors of IR. Within the particular chapters of this volume, which are subdivided into three comprehensive sections, the expert contributors discuss the fundamental theoretical and conceptual foundations of nuclear disarmament and subsequently try to assess its hypothetical impact in both global and different regional contexts.
