A symposium held in Quebec City in 2000 by the society for Historical Archaeology entitles `Preserves, Parks, and Trails: Interpreting our Sunken Maritime Heritage` saw fifteen contributors discuss their experiences and ideas about how maritime heritage should be preserved and accessible to the public in the present and future. Addressing issues of education, tourism, land-based exhibitions and literature as well as underwater trails and wrecks, they discuss the failures and successes of various strategies in the United States, Canada and Australia. Future directions for submerged cultural resource management are also focused upon.
