商品簡介
Ten studies revised from annual lectures at Oxford University since 1990 examine various aspects of mathematician and astronomer Harriot's (1560-1621) work. Among those aspects are his contributions to philosophical and religious debate, the early exploration of America, algebra and optics, and the observation of sun spots and comets. They also consider the social milieu of his work, which included friendships with Walter Ralegh and the Ninth Earl of Northumbria, whose association with the Gunpowder Plot led to his spending many years imprisoned.
