The Democratic Spirit of Law

Arguing that the democracy can run the risk of corrupting its own founding principles, French sociologist Schapper says that democracy today is subject to two types or criticism: the first stresses the failure of democracies to fulfill the values they invoke--external criticism--and the second questions the possible excesses of democracy that stem from its own logic--internal criticism.
