Laura Childs was a self-proclaimed city girl who broke away from the hectic urban life. Now living on a small, self-sustained farm in Ontario, Canada, she chronicles everyday adventures of raising goats, chickens, horses, and other animals on her Web site, goodbyecitylife.com. She is the author of The Joy of Keeping Farm Animals and The Joy of Keeping Goats.
Jennifer Megyesi and her husband own and run the Fat Rooster Farm in Vermont. She holds a master's degree in wildlife biology and has worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Her farm is currently breeding Cuckoo Marans chickens, famed for laying chocolate-colored eggs. She lives on the farm with her husband and son in Royalton, Vermont.
Jessie Shiers is an author and editor who lives on forty-three acres of field, forest, and swamp in Norway, Maine. She and her husband and daughter share their farm with three horses, twenty three chickens, a dog, and a cat. She is the author of several horse books including 101 Horsekeeping Tips, 25 Projects for Horsemen, and Knack: Grooming Horses.
Kate Rowinski is a writer and catalog consultant, author of four children’s books, and co-author of L.L. Bean Outdoor Photography Handbook. She lives in both Yarmouth, Maine, and Charlottesville, Virginia.
