This second edition of an edited collection of articles from the U.K. aims to comprehensively describe current psychiatric rehabilitation practices. It is divided into five parts. Part 1, "Setting the Scene," goes over the history of rehabilitation practice, and introduces key concepts and issues, including: disability associated with severe mental illness; the whole system approach; social exclusion; values-led practice; assessment; and personal narratives. Part 2, "Treatment Approaches," describes a wide range of therapeutic options. Part 3, "Key Elements of a Rehabilitation Service," details the flexible rehabilitation pathway, which consists of referrals, in-patient rehabilitation units and community services. Part 4, "Special Topics In Psychiatric Rehabilitation," contains articles on rehabilitation and acquired brain injury, autism, risk management, international and cross-cultural perspectives, and expanding the evidence base.
