商品簡介
This collection of essays by linguist and scholar Utas shows the impressive depth of his knowledge of Middle and New Persian. Many of the essays are on the linguistic subtleties of the language, but several others are on facets of Persian culture as seen through the literature, including three on Rumi and Sufism (in French). He notes that New Persian has changed little in the past thousand years, making the literary tradition a rich one. Utas examines literature from the twelfth century to the twentieth. The articles will be welcomed by students of the language and literature of Iran. Annotation c2009 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
