商品簡介
The book has been widely used at both the middle and senior undergraduate levels and the Masters degree and Ph.D levels. In providing a unique interpretation of MENA international politics, it will also be valuable for scholars of the region. It could also serve as a text in general course on International Relations/World Politics but would be more likely to be so assigned in course on IR of the Third World or of Regions. Essential for IR of MENA courses/modules; recommended in broader IR courses. As for secondary markets, the book would be very useful for government or business persons wanting an overview of the topic. The rapid expansion of universities in the Middle East makes this a market that the press ought to try to tap. A serious effort should be made to get it translated into Arabic which would make it even more widely useful.
The book provide readers with both theoretical and concrete information, with theoretically-framed major topics, liberally illustrated with case study material on key dimensions of regional politics. Topics include the place of the Middle East in the wider global system; the role of Arabism and Islam in regional politics; the impact of state formation in the region on its international relations; comparative foreign policy making looking at pivotal country cases, including Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Turkey; major regional wars and efforts at order building; the role of US hegemony and the two Iraq wars; the impact of the Arab Uprising on regional politics.
