About the author
Dr. Jones trained as a biologist and started his programming career bylearning Perl. He started teaching programming to other peopleshortly after that, and quickly branched out into other languagesincluding Python. Since then he has taught programming tohundreds of beginners, specializing in courses for people without atraditional computer science background. His teaching philosophy isthat programming courses must be friendly, approachable, andfocussed on practical results.
Dr. Jones currently teaches programming in his position of Lecturer inBioinformatics at Edinburgh University. He is the author of twoprevious programming books: Python for Biologists and AdvancedPython for Biologists. This is his first programming book for ageneral audience.
