The Foundations of Arabic Linguistics II contains eleven studies of grammatical theories in Sibawayhi's Kitab (end 8th century C.E.) and their reception in the later grammatical literature.

Her publications include: Kitab Sibawayhi:Syntax and pragmatics (2010) and The Foundations of Arabic Linguistics: Sibawayhi and early Arabic grammatical theory (2012).Kees Versteegh is emeritus-professor of Arabic and Islam at the University of Nijmegen. He specializes in historical linguistics and the history of linguistics.
