商品簡介
Combining literary criticism with historical research and recent developments in public sphere theory, the author of this study argues that the discursive space created by commercial theater during the period from 1590 to 1630 helped to foster the development of the concept of news and the growth of news culture. The study focuses on three plays: William Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale, Thomas Middleton's A Game at Chess, and Ben Jonson's The Staple of News. Black and white historical illustrations are included. Annotation c2016 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
