商品簡介
In 1842 a group of communitarians established the Northampton Association of Education and Industry, a utopian enclave in Massachusetts. In its four and a half years the community experimented with racial and gender equality, new industries, and the radical idea of living for a common cause. Clark (U. of Warwick) examines newly rediscovered records and letters left by the association. He also reviews the reactions of those outside the community, who disagreed with the Northampton Association's concept of what constituted a model for a better world.
